Step back in time with this great walking tour right in North Conway. Redstone Quarry was the industrial backbone of the region for over 50 years starting in the early 1900’s. The site is now being reclaimed by 70 years worth of forest growth. Moderate walking trails throughout the area makes the site accessible for exploration and fun family adventure.
- See old working buildings abandoned for 70 years being reclaimed by growing forest. - See abandoned machinery, rail tracks, engines, cable and 80 foot derricks! - See dramatic cliffs and stunning views - Knowledgeable guide will lead you to points of interest. You will also gain a historical perspective of the area and learn about life at the turn of the century with historical anecdotes of the times. Something for everybody: Outdoor Enthusiasts will enjoy a moderate hike with unique terrain! Photographers will find unique images to capture! Families will enjoy a 90 minute bonding experience through the woods! History buffs will learn about area construction and be amazed at how they did it! Everyone will love the red and green granite quarries and fantastic outlook areas with beautiful scenery! Tours last between 90 minutes and two hours with approximately two miles of round trip hiking distance. Three tours daily at 9 am, 12 noon, and 3 pm.
